About Us

It is a type of bariatric surgery that consists of two components: first, a small gastric pouch is created by removing a portion of the stomach, similar to sleeve gastrectomy when performed with duodenal switch, or gastric bypass when performed without, and the first portion of the small intestine is separated from the stomach; then, a portion of the small intestine is connected to the outlet of the newly created stomach so that when the patient eats, the food passes through the sleeve pouch and reaches the last portion of the small intestine.

How does it work?

The smaller gastric pouch allows patients to ingest less food. The food stream bypasses approximately 75% of the small intestine, significantly decreasing the absorption of calories and nutrients, so patients must take vitamin and mineral supplements after surgery. It also affects gut hormones, reducing hunger, increasing satiety, and improving blood glucose control. It is considered the most effective #MetabolicSurgery for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
